District heating is the use of a centralised boiler to provide heat to a number of buildings using a network of pre-insulated pipes underground. This is done using a series of Heat Interface Units (HIU’s) or heat exchangers at each termination to deliver heat and hot water to the property.
District Heating is the efficient distribution of heat to multiple destinations utilising a centralised heat source. This heat is conveyed using a network of underground pipes specially designed to transport heat upto 95c. These pipes are well insulated to prevent heat loss, allowing for an efficient transfer of heat across your system. This heat is then transferred to the existing secondary pipework at each termination using heat exchangers. This form of heating network removes the need for a heat source (ie boiler) at each individual property.
This style of heating system is suited for connection to biomass boilers and ground source heat pumps.
